burn out

Burnout and Exhaustion

Burnout is more than just feeling tired—it’s an emotional and physical state of depletion that can make even the simplest tasks feel impossible. You might feel like you’re constantly running on empty, struggling to keep up with work, family responsibilities, or personal expectations. Burnout can make you feel disconnected from your own life, like you’re on autopilot, just going through the motions without feeling fulfilled.

Burnout can affect you emotionally, mentally, and even physically, leading to irritability, emotional exhaustion, and feeling overwhelmed by even minor challenges. Over time, it can also cause feelings of hopelessness or detachment, making it harder to find joy or purpose in everyday life.

How I Can Help:

Using a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), I’ll help you recognize the early signs of burnout and develop strategies to restore balance. EFIT focuses on understanding the emotions driving your burnout, and together, we’ll explore the emotional patterns that keep you feeling stuck in this state. We’ll work through feelings of overwhelm, reconnect with your core emotions, and identify ways to regain emotional strength and balance.

By combining EFIT, we’ll focus on helping you strengthen your relationship with yourself, building resilience against stress and emotional exhaustion. We’ll also explore ways to connect with the deeper emotional needs that may be unmet, allowing you to address the root causes of burnout rather than just the symptoms.

How You’ll Reconnect:

  • Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries: You’ll learn to protect your time and energy by creating clear, healthy boundaries with work, family, and other commitments. This will help prevent future burnout by ensuring you’re not overextending yourself.

  • Rediscovering joy and purpose: You’ll reconnect with the activities, hobbies, and relationships that bring you joy. Together, we’ll explore how to bring more fulfillment and happiness into your daily life, so you feel more present and engaged.

  • Emotional resilience and connection: By working through your emotions with EFIT, you’ll build emotional strength and learn how to navigate stress with greater ease. You’ll gain tools to understand and manage your emotional responses, helping you maintain a sense of connection and fulfillment in your life.

  • Restoring balance and self-care: We’ll work together to prioritize self-care and build a balanced routine that supports your emotional and physical well-being. You’ll develop practical tools to manage life’s demands without feeling overwhelmed, allowing you to approach each day with renewed energy and clarity.

With this approach, you’ll not only recover from burnout but also develop the emotional tools needed to prevent it in the future, so you can face life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.

recovering from a break up

Recovering from a Breakup

Breakups can leave you feeling like a part of you is missing, leaving behind waves of emotions—sadness, anger, confusion, and even relief. It’s normal to feel lost, replaying memories, and questioning your sense of self and worth. When you’ve poured so much of yourself into a relationship, its end can feel overwhelming, as though you’re stuck and can’t see a way forward.

How I Can Help:

I’m here to create a compassionate, safe space where you can bring all of those feelings, however messy they may seem. Together, we’ll process everything that comes with the end of your relationship, from the heartbreak to the hidden emotional layers. Using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), we’ll explore the emotional patterns that may have contributed to the relationship's challenges and eventual ending. As an attachment-based therapist, I help you recognize any unhealthy relational patterns—whether it’s giving too much of yourself, feeling unheard, or repeating behaviors that don’t serve you.

We’ll work through these patterns with curiosity and self-compassion, helping you understand why they showed up and how they impacted your relationships. Once we bring those patterns into the light, we can begin the process of healing the emotional wounds they’ve left behind. With my support, you’ll start breaking these patterns, learning how to nurture relationships that are built on respect, trust, and emotional honesty. This isn’t just about recovering from the breakup—it’s about rediscovering who you are and what you need in relationships moving forward.

Through this healing process, we’ll work on reconnecting you with your emotions in a way that allows you to feel more connected to yourself and others. I’m here to support you in finding your emotional strength again, so that you feel empowered, confident, and ready to embrace future relationships with a deeper sense of self-worth.

What You’ll Achieve:

  • Emotional closure and healing by addressing the root patterns and emotional needs behind the breakup.

  • A deeper connection with yourself, where you can confidently understand and express your emotional needs in future relationships.

  • Renewed self-worth and independence, giving you the strength to feel whole on your own and ready for healthier relationships.

  • Healing from past emotional hurts, so you can break free from unhelpful patterns and foster stronger, more fulfilling relationships moving forward.

chronic pain management

Chronic Pain and Emotional Trauma

Living with chronic pain and emotional trauma can make it feel like you’re carrying an invisible burden. The constant discomfort or pain, coupled with unresolved emotional wounds, can leave you feeling isolated, frustrated, and powerless.

How I Can Help:

As someone who understands chronic pain and high functional depression firsthand, I offer a psychosocial rehabilitation approach that combines EFIT, CBT, and mindfulness to help you manage both the physical and emotional toll of chronic pain. Together, we’ll work on tools to cope with the pain, while healing from the emotional impact of trauma. My goal is to help you regain control over your life and build emotional resilience in the face of these challenges.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Tools to better manage chronic pain and reduce its emotional toll.

  • Healing from trauma, allowing you to feel more at peace with yourself.

  • A renewed sense of control over your physical and emotional well-being.

Grief and Loss

Grief can feel like an emotional storm—waves of sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness can come and go unexpectedly. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or a way of life, the weight of grief can feel all-encompassing.

How I Can Help:

I provide a safe space for you to honor your grief while working through the range of emotions that come with loss. Together, we’ll navigate the stages of grief at a pace that feels right for you. Using compassionate and trauma-informed care, I’ll guide you in finding meaning, healing, and eventually, peace.

How You’ll Heal:

  • A safe space to express and process your grief at your own pace.

  • Emotional tools to navigate the different stages of grief.

  • A path toward healing, acceptance, and peace after loss.

Cultural Identity and Gender or Sexual Identity Exploration

Exploring your cultural identity or understanding your gender or sexual identity can be confusing and isolating, especially when those around you don’t fully understand. The pressure to conform to cultural expectations or societal norms can create deep inner conflict and emotional pain.

How I Can Help:

As a BIPOC and queer-identified therapist and a 1.5 immigrant from Taiwan, I offer a safe, affirming space where we can explore your cultural, gender, or sexual identity without judgment. We’ll work through the confusion, helping you build self-confidence and embrace who you are fully, all while honoring your culture and values.

What You’ll Discover:

  • A deeper understanding and acceptance of your identity.

  • Confidence in navigating societal or cultural pressures.

  • A supportive environment to explore your identity safely and authentically.

Feeling Stuck, Numb, or Overwhelmed

Life can sometimes feel incredibly heavy—like you’re carrying emotions that are too much to bear. You might feel weighed down by constant sadness, hopelessness, or an overwhelming sense of numbness. It can be hard to get through the day when everything feels like too much, and it’s difficult to connect with the things that once brought you joy. If you’re finding yourself stuck in these feelings, unsure of how to move forward, you’re not alone.

How I Can Help:

Using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), we’ll work together to gently explore what’s really going on underneath those heavy emotions. These feelings often stem from unprocessed emotions or unmet emotional needs in your relationships, past experiences, or even within yourself. My goal is to create a space where you can safely reconnect with your emotions, gain clarity, and begin the process of healing.

Together, we’ll focus on:

  • Understanding your emotions: Sometimes, it’s hard to even put a name to what you’re feeling. We’ll work on helping you make sense of these emotions, so they no longer feel overwhelming or confusing.

  • Healing past emotional wounds: You may be carrying pain from past relationships or experiences that is affecting how you feel now. We’ll work on healing these emotional wounds, so they stop weighing you down.

  • Rebuilding emotional connection: Feeling disconnected from yourself or others can make the weight of your emotions feel even heavier. We’ll work on helping you rebuild these emotional connections, so you can feel more supported, both by yourself and the people around you.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Clarity about your emotions: Together, we’ll make sense of the emotions that have been weighing you down. You’ll gain a clearer understanding of what you’re feeling, making it easier to manage and move forward.

  • A sense of connection: As you process and understand your emotions, you’ll start feeling more connected to yourself and those around you. This connection can bring you a sense of comfort and relief that things can get better.

  • Emotional strength and resilience: Healing takes time, but as you break free from old emotional patterns, you’ll begin to feel more emotionally balanced, resilient, and capable of handling life’s ups and downs.

  • Renewed self-worth: As you heal and reconnect with your emotions, you’ll rediscover your inner strength and value, helping you move forward with confidence and self-compassion.

Transformation is relational

Love heals

  • Anti-oppressive

  • Attachment-based

  • Trauma-informed

My approach: Anti-Oppressive, Trauma-Informed, and Attachment-Based

At the core of my work are values of inclusion, compassion, and respect. These values guide everything I do because I truly believe that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can be themselves, without fear of judgment. My approach is rooted in creating an environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued as we work together. Here’s what that looks like:

Anti-Oppressive

I’m committed to creating a space where your unique identity is honored and where we can openly address how power and privilege affect your mental health and well-being. Whether you’ve faced racism, sexism, homophobia, or other forms of oppression, you’ll find that this space is about you—your voice, your experience. I understand how oppressive systems can add layers of emotional stress, and I’m here to help you unpack and heal from those burdens in a way that feels safe. You are worthy of being seen, supported, and understood just as you are, and my goal is to empower you to express your full, authentic self in every session.

Trauma-Informed

I know that trauma can touch every part of your life and leave you feeling overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself. My trauma-informed approach is all about creating a space where you feel safe to process what you've been through, without rushing or pressure. We’ll move at your pace, honoring the path your healing journey takes. Trauma isn’t a straight line, and some days will be harder than others—but I’ll be here with you through all of it, helping you rebuild trust in yourself and others. Together, we’ll work on fostering resilience and reclaiming the parts of you that trauma may have silenced.

Attachment-Based

Our relationships—whether with family, partners, or friends—play such an important role in shaping how we feel about ourselves and the world. Through an attachment-based lens, I help you explore how your early relationships have impacted the way you connect with others now. We’ll dive into how these patterns may be affecting your current relationships, and work to create healthier, more fulfilling bonds. Whether it’s healing from a family wound, navigating conflict in romantic relationships, or just understanding yourself better, I’m here to help you strengthen the connections that matter most to you, including your relationship with yourself.
